The Reckless underage Motorcyclists in Quetta- Are we suiciding?
It is not a new sight in quetta to see underage motorcycle riders but in recent years this trend has become very common that you see every other motorcycle rider in Quetta specially on Alamdar road is underage. These teenager and even child motorcycle riders are very weak physically unable to control the machine they are driving. Moreover, they are fully unprotected. For example they don't wear helmet or paddings that are necessary to be put on. These teenage drivers are unsupervised as well. They don't know the traffic rules nor they are taught about safety measurements they have to take while riding a motorcycle. In other words, we can say that motorcycling in quetta has become a kids' hobby. For instance, it is seen that these kids perform stunts on motorcycles as well which includes handsfree motorcycle driving and 4 persons sitting on the same motorcycle that is being driven by a weak, inexperienced and unsupervised teenage rider at full speed. In this situation, occurrence of any fatal accident is inevitable. Subsequently, it is unfortunate to sum up that these untrained children drivers not only hurt themselves but they can also hurt or kill someone else too. That victim of teenage motorcycle driving could be the only earning person of his family or he can be an only son of some fateful parents, he could be anyone.
Having wrote that, now the question is who is responsible for unnecessary and dangerous trend of teenage motorcycle driving in streets of Quetta? As they say "Charity begins at home". So, in my view its the parents who comes first in discouraging this dangerous trend. Please! don't buy your kids motorcycles until they are at-least 18 years old. They should know the traffic rules and finally they should take full safety measurements before driving on the road. If still you have got money and have to spend it then please give it in charity for thousands of bomb blast victims. We have got lots of injured people, widows and orphans who need your spare money. Please remember that when you buy a motorcycle for your teenage boy you are off course not doing him a favour but you are acting as an enemy actually.
After that, its the Quetta city's government that is responsible for child motorcycle driving. They should introduce strict laws which exists already, hence they need to reinforce it with much power. Moreover, the citizens of Quetta should also report young drivers if they are violating the laws. Wearing helmets and imposing age restrictions should be mandatory for riding a motorcycle or any other vehicle.
Please take part in this campaign personally and play your part in every possible way. It will surely save lots of precious lives.
